Zea Stem Cross Section
Though they are another fall staple in addition to pumpkins, zea plants, more commonly known as corn, have very different stem arrangements from pumpkins. This is because pumpkins are eudicots while zea plants are monocots. Rather than having their vascular bundles arranged in a ring, the vascular bundles in monocots are scattered throughout the stem.
