Despite the ever-present light pollution, astrophotography is still possible in suburbia. The results may not be as astounding as could be gotten from other places, but it is rewarding all the same. I usually use a 20D and employ the ETTR method (expose to the right). Here is a video link to reference if you are curious in using the method.
I also use a telescope but I haven't used it for astrophotography yet. It is the Celestron 114AZ-SR Smartphone Ready Reflector Telescope, and if you are looking for good telescope, I fully recommend this one!
