Rabbit Spine

The spinal cord links the brain with the rest of the body and makes up the central nervous system. On the outside, it is protected by the vertebral column, but on the inside, bundles of nerve fibers transmit motor and sensory information.

This hole is the spine central canal, a hollow tube that runs the length of the spinal cord and is filled with cerebral spinal fluid. The role of this fluid is the absorb any physical shocks or sudden movements of the head to protect the brain.
